Club Library Section
The Panaga Library lends Dutch and English
adults' and children's fiction, non-fiction, reference books
and DVDs. There is also a colleciton of sheet music and
theatrical scripts for loan. The Library is located within
the Panaga Club, adjacent to the General Office and is open
one hour each weekday and is operated by an all-volunteer staff
and new volunteers are always welcomed warmly. Please
indicated your interest to a librarian or by e-mail to library@panagaclub.com
Full training is provided on a regular basis. The Library
is happy to receive donated books and magazines. These
donated items will be placed in the "Open All Hours Bookstore"
bookcase in the Club's foyer and are offered as $1 per book
(magazines are free), payable by chit. Fees are $5.00 per family
per month.

SSAFA Big Brunch
The SSAFA BIG BRUNCH will
take place on Friday 3rd October between 8.00am and
1.00pm at the Unit Welfare Centre (opposite the NAAFI and next to the
Garrison swimming pool).
EVERYONE is welcome - bring your friends and family.

The Garrison Bonfire Night will be held on Saturday 1st November
at the Mumong Community Centre. Gates open at 5.30pm. Tickets

Degree Courses
Anyone wanting to find out more about completing
GCSEs, A Levels or Degree courses whilst in Brunei are invited to drop-in
to the Education Centre to find out what’s on offer and to discuss
ideas and options with the Education Officer, Captain Damian Bacchoo.
The drop-in session will take place on Tuesday 30th September
between 5pm and 8pm. You can get further details from Captain Bacchoo

Assistant Learning Centre Manager
There is a job vacancy in the Army Learning Centre
for Assistant Learning Centre Manager. Any interested applicants are

Healthcare Commission Review of the DMS
UK Healthcare Commission has been asked to review the services provided
by the Defence Medical Services [DMS] in the UK and overseas using standards
set by the Government.
As part of this process, they would like to hear from Service personnel,
their dependants and eligible civilians about experiences of care provided
by the DMS and what YOU consider is good or excellent practice and whether
there is room for improvement?

Telephone and Internet (for all new comers)
TelBru is the principle provider of telephone and internet
services in Brunei. There is a special leaflet prepared for Brunei Garrison
personnel including UKBC and Nepali staff to follow when applying for
the telephone and internet services. Acquisition of these services has
to be process through the military chain of command instead of applying
directly to the TelBru office.

Brunei Garrison Fantasy Football League 2008
Don’t forget Brunei Garrison Fantasy Football League organised
by Fletch; log-on to www.premierleague.com
and look out for ‘I Know The Score’ prediction game.
All new arrivals who would like to register, can get the code from
Fletch in the RAO's on Mil 3795. The cost is only $10.00 and you could
walk away with the WINNER's trophy. There's also a trophy for
runner-up and third place. Failing that you could be the owner of The
Jimmy Hill 'Wooden Spooner' Award.
Jalan Tengah Closure (Road Closure)
Jalan Tengah, the road between the Garrison and Shell BOMBA is closed
NOW for several months.
Alternative routes have been identified and will be managed but the
local authorities. You can either use the Seria-by-pass from Mumong
to Seria OR the Panaga Road from the Garrison to the Bomba facility
for light vehicles only.
Heavy Goods Vehicles use the Panaga Road.
The repair works will allow for modification works on the bridge crossing
and the implementation of a flood prevention project in Pekan Seria.
Panaga Club Main Hall Lighting Project
It is hoped that commissioning of the new theatre
lighting system will take place mid September. Training courses will
be offered once everything is working as it slhould. Please note that
any sections wishing to use the Panaga Main Hall lights need to provide
their own lighting team, who will have had to complete the training
course.
With this in mind would sections please forward names of those wishing

This invitation is open to any club member who would be interested in
operating lights. An ideal opportunity would be to get involved with
the lights for the Pantomime, which will be the first show that the
all new digital system will be used to it's full potential.

SSAFA Forces Help - TOYS NEEDED PLEASE!
SSAFA needs some new toys. If anyone has any
unwanted new toys or nearly new toys which are no longer required, SSAFA
would be most grateful if they could be passed them their way!
The kind of toys required are large, sturdy trikes, push-chair with
dolly, push-along toys etc. Due to Health and Safety regulations,
it has to be stressed that toys donated must be in good condition obviously.
If you can help, call the SSAFA office on Mil 3371 or drop them off
