We've been informed that listeners to BFBS Radio 2 on the Costa Del Sol (on 99.5 Mhz) are experiencing a deterioration in reception.

Our engineers here in Gibraltar have conducted tests on our transmitters and the results show them to be functioning normally.

Monitoring the 99.5 Mhz frequency in Spain on Saturday our team tuned in to a very strong signal on 99.4 Mhz.
This may be the source of the 'interference' reported by many of our BFBS Radio 2 listeners.
There appears to be no station identification or RDS on 99.4 Mhz and the broadcaster appears to be severely over-deviating resulting in a degradation of the BFBS signal.

The 99.4 MHZ signal appears to be confined to the Duquesa/Estepona area and is not affecting reception of BFBS Radio 2 in Gibraltar.
Until such time as reception of our service here on The Rock is affected, little can be done by BFBS.
Neither we, nor The Government of Gibraltar have authority over the allocation of frequencies in Spain.
