Balmoral Show 2008, Ireland’s largest agricultural show and takes
place at the Balmoral Showground. The main arena will be hosting events
such as top international show jumping, pony club games, dog agility
and band performances. There will also be over 390 stands to wander
around.

Saturday 17th May
Killowen Primary School in Lisburn are holding their summer fete There’s
lots going on for young and not so young and BFBS will be there too!
Sunday 18th May
Lisburn City Council, in conjunction with Marie Curie Cancer Care, Coca
Cola and runrunrun.com, are holding a “Walk the River” a
10 K walk along the banks of the Lagan River. The walk starts at the
Island Arts Centre, Lisburn at 2pm. For more details phone Up and Running

23rd May - 1st June
Belfast Children’s Festival, this is an festival for children
aged 0-12yrs. Ten fun-filled days of music, theatre, storytelling, workshops,
exhibitions and puppetry, events will be happening in and out of school
time. The festival is being run by Young Art for more details visit

14th June
Military Mayhem at Hillsborough Fort. A fun filled day of Military Mayhem
in Hillsborough. See re-enactments of Military combat, jousting and
archery, complete with full costumes and weapons. A good fun day out
for all the family!

Lisburn walk along the river & BFBS sponsored Fun Run for Big Salute
/Army Benevolent Fund. 6pm (tbc) Island Arts Centre, Lisburn. for more

There’s a Salsa Dancing Class every Thursday evening in Finnegans
Bar, Lisburn Station between 7.30 and 8.30pm. Followed by Ballroom 8.30
to 9.30pmThe lessons cost £4.00 per class and are popular! If

The new Half Crown Club in Lisburn Station is now open to all every
Wednesday and Thursday from 7.30pm on Friday from 3pm, on Saturday and
on Sunday from 1.30pm. If you would like to book the venue for a function
call Mags the barman on 65906.
Aldergrove Jumping Jimmies ‘Under 5’s’ group located
in the Youth Club building is open every Monday - Friday from 9:30 -
11:30 am and Wednesday’s 14:30 - 16:30 when it is open to everyone.
It costs just £1 to let your toddler run around and let off steam!
The Aldergrove Families Club hold regular events, including a children’s
disco and envelope draw every Friday from 5:45 p.m to 8:45 p.m, a bingo
night every Sunday of every month, with eyes down at 8:30 p.m and on
the first Sunday of every month they have a quiz night starting at 8:30
p.m.
Adult Salsa & Latin American dance classes take place at The Venue
(formerly the Rose Bowl) in Aldergrove on Monday nights from 7:30 -
8:30 p.m. This class is followed by Ballroom Dancing lessons from 8:30
- 9:30 p.m. Each class costs £4 and everyone is welcome. For more

If your partner is being deployed on operations, make sure you have
a copy of the Operational Welfare Pack - it’s full of information
and useful telephone numbers so that you have information at hand should
you need it. Call into your Unit Welfare Office for a copy.
The HIVE has copies of prospectuses for most pre-schools, primary, secondary
& colleges in your area. They also have details of local fee paying
& private tutors. If you are interested in boarding schools, they
have details of many schools in the UK. Call for more info.
Representatives from the Child Support Agency (CSA) conduct a one-day
surgery on a regular basis in Thiepval Barracks, Lisburn and the Families
Estate, Ballykelly. This is a confidential free service for serving
personnel and their families throughout Northern Ireland. If you would
like a one-to-one interview regarding any CSA queries, please contact
