Simeon Courtie

Simeon is the son of a vicar...he left school at 16 to serve a 4 year apprenticeship as an engineer…having fully learned the ins and outs of building printing presses he promptly left the manufacturing industry for a complete change – and pursued his ambition of becoming a radio DJ.

By 22 he had his own daily show on BBC Radio Northampton and was banging on the door of television. A couple of years later he was fronting BBC 2's pop show The Ozone which led to his best known job entertaining millions of BBC 1 viewers every afternoon as the ‘broom cupboard' host of Children's BBC with his sidekick Otis the Aardvark.

After jumping to ITV in the late nineties to front several more children's series he moved on again to front more ‘grown up' television for BBC 2's Learning Zone.

He currently dedicates a couple of days a week to broadcasting on both radio and television for BFBS – hosting Room 785 on BFBS 1 TV on Fridays and at weekends, and presenting Sim's Saturday Show on BFBS Radio 1. The rest of his time he spends writing television formats and comedy scripts. At least that's what he's supposed to be doing. His 3 daughters aged 10, 8and 6 also take up quite a bit of his time while his wife works full time at the BBC.
