Brian Nero

Brian hails from the south-west of Scotland and joined the Army more or less straight from school. Whilst in Germany he spent some time fronting a band, but after realising he hadn‘t been at the front of the queue when great singing voices were handed out (!) he decided the next best thing would be to become a disc-jockey.

Brian first worked as a volunteer presenter for BFBS in the Falkland Islands (in 1988!) and then spent three years as a freelance presenter in Germany fronting the (six-hour!) Saturday Night Party show with Radio ffn near Hannover, and the Friday drivetime show at Radio Westfalica in Minden. The drivetime show was unique in that it was a bi-lingual show, with some links being done in English, some in German and some in both at the same time!

During his time in the Army Brian enjoyed more stints with BFBS in Belize, Cyprus and Kosovo before leaving the forces and joining us as a full-time presenter. He organised BFBS’ contribution to the final RASS in 2002 (happy days!) before being rewarded with a six-month tour in the Falklands (again!).

During the last four years Brian has presented every show on BFBS in Germany and also been detached to Kosovo and the Middle East. He is now the voice of Access All Areas, broadcasting to operational theatres all over the world.

Brian also likes wearing leather trousers, but this doesn’t make him weird…
