Sabina Sunuwar

I was a student of Psychology with a Major in English at Padhma Kanya Campus. I am currently here in Brunei on an accompanied family tour with my husband Mr Bed Bahadur Sunuwar. He is with the Signal Platoon, CSS Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles. We have a lovely 3 years old son Bisesh to complete our family.

Knowing different people learning new things and visiting different places is among my favourites hobbies. I am very fortunate that my husband is in the Army and I get to travel along with him. I have managed to visit a number of places in South East Asian region namely Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. These visits have given me a better understanding of the world outside Nepal. I am looking forward to going to the UK in a few months time on posting. As it remains my childhood dream to visit Europe and get a first hand experience of the western way of life. I am glad that this dream is being fulfilled.

About 18 months ago, I grabbed the opportunity to work for BFBS Brunei. I was particularly happy when I was given the responsibility to produce my favourite programme called ‘Kabita Kusum'. This is a poetry based weekly programme which boasts a large national and international internet audience.  My target audience comprises the Gurkha soldiers and their families who are very creative and wish to put their poetic thoughts onto paper and express themselves. It is truly a very challenging half an hour programme but I love it.

Getting to know the technicalities of broadcasting is another charm of working here in BFBS Brunei. Having to produce, edit and advertise my own programme gives me a great sense of achievement. I am very glad and proud that I am currently employed as a presenter at BFBS and hope to continue this when I accompany my husband later this year to the UK.
