Multi-Channel BFBS TV Direct to Home rolls out
The biggest changes to BFBS TV since the launch of BFBS2 over three years ago are well under way. It's all part of the process of getting multi-channel TV to non-operational areas over the next couple of years, particularly Germany, Naples and Cyprus. From only being able to see BFBS 1, the installation of cable and satellite over the next year will see families all over Europe getting access to the full 6 channel BFBS line-up that operational troops currently enjoy.
BFBS is therefore introducing some changes to the channel line-up most notably the addition of a 24-hour music channel. Here's the new look:
BFBS1, the family channel, has something for everyone, with sport, drama, comedy, films, news and children's programming.
BFBS2, dubbed the lads' channel on its launch to operational theatres 3 years ago for its edgy comedy, sci-fi and sport mix, is being modified so that adults in family areas can enjoy all the advantages of a second entertainment channel in the evenings without scaring the kids. There'll be a 9 p.m. watershed and the current operational area BFBS2 daytime repeats will be blocked in non-operational areas.
The other four channels, Sky News, Sky Sports 1 and 2, and The Hits music channel - are extra carriage channels provided free by BFBS, part of the SSVC charity.
This six-channel offering has been rolled-out in Germany and Naples and to clubs and messes in Cyprus and is now on its way into Cyprus homes. And of course, troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans will continue to enjoy their six channels, but now enhanced with the music channel. |
