Martha
Fairlie
Martha Fairlie joined the BFBS Reports team in Germany
at the beginning of 2004 and is based in our Herford offices.
Reporting on the
British forces is a far cry from her previous job - she
joined BFBS direct from BBC Scotland, where she worked as
a journalist for 6 years - the last three as the Scottish
Education Correspondent.
In her first year
with BFBS TV, Martha's clocked up the air miles reporting
from Canada, Gibraltar and Iraq, and she's covered almost
every angle of army life. Reporting on the Staff Sergeant
who completed his BFT by running backwards, and 'test-driving'
a tandem parachute jump from 14,000 feet.
Martha took an
early interest in broadcasting, reading her first radio
news bulletin at the age of 16! She began her career
as a broadcast journalist in 1993, working as a cub radio
reporter for Radio Tay in Dundee and then Radio Forth in
Edinburgh. She's also been a TV reporter for Reporting
Scotland and BBC News 24, as well as the producer of a half-hour
nightly news and current affairs programme.
