rough in London every night.

Makalu
2008 - 28th January 2008
To
mark the 50th anniversary of British Service Mountaineering,
four joint services teams are going to be heading to the
Himalayas and one of them will attempt the world's fifth
highest peak Makalu.
To
follow the progress of the expedition you can add the team
as a friend on facebook, bebo or myspace by searching under
"Makalu 2008".
The
team will soon have a website up and running, until then

Chelsea Pageant - 25th January 2008
For
the last 300 years, the Royal Hospital in Chelsea has looked
after thousands of sick and elderly ex-soldiers.
The residents, better known as Chelsea Pensioners, are in
need of new accommodation and an infirmary.
To raise money, the Hospital's holding a pageant on the
7th & 8th June. Ticket information and further

New
Forces Insurance - 9th May 2007
The MoD has unveiled
a new Service Life Insurance scheme in partnership with
the commercial company Sterling Life, offering full life
cover for all regular and reservist service personnel.
Unlike previous policies, there'll be no exclusions for
those engaged on war-fighting deployments or those killed
by chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear attack.

Armed Forces Personnel are to receive help to buy their
own homes. Under the expansion of the Government's
Key Worker Programme, up to 10,000 Service People and another
2,500 MOD Civilian workers will qualify for assistance in
England's Souther Regions, where house prices can ultimately
affect careers.

Partnerships - 22nd November 2005
From next month,
gay couples will be able to enter into new civil partnerships
and be given the same legal rights as in a heterosexual
marriage. In Germany, a military registrar will conduct
civil partnership proceedings and gay members of the forces
community who decide to tie the knot will be able to live
in married quarters.

been launched on the internet.
Accessible world-wide
from any internet ready PC, ARMYNET will allow soldiers
to use the latest in internet security to conduct their
routine business online.
Regular, TA and Reserve soldiers can
register by logging onto www.armynet.mod.uk
and then choose to sponsor a guest or family member.
Each registered
user is given a unique user ID and password.

Nolan Trust - 16th March 2004
The Scots DG and
Fallingbostel Station have been doing their bit to increase
the chances of Leukaemia sufferers across the world.
The Anthony Nolan
Trust, a charity dedicated to saving the lives of Leukaemia
and severe immune deficiency sufferers, went to Germany
to collect blood samples to add to their global register.
If a tissue sample
is a match they could be called upon to donate more of their
stem cells taken from either blood or bone marrow.

Reduction - 9th January 2004
Crime busting has taken a new twist in British Forces Germany,
with the launch of a specially designed website. Paderborn
Garrison's Crime Reduction Officer came up with the idea
to give soldiers and their families help and advice whenever
