How To Make A...

 

 

Funny Face Board

You Will Need:

Card (could be cereal box)
Black felt tip
Sheet of acetate
Tape
Scissors
Wax crayons
Kitchen Towel

Here's How:


Draw large oval shape on card.


With tape stick acetate to card to stop it moving around.


Draw face with wax crayon onto acetate.


Clean off with kitchen towel.

 

 

Wrapping Paper

You Will Need:


Lining paper for walls
Kitchen towel
Paint
Paper plate – as palette
Thin card – ie empty tissue box
Scissors

Here's How:


Cut a square of card approx 12cm along each side.


Fold in half.


On folded edge draw half a heart and cut out.


Also trim card to 1.5 cm along straight side of heart.


Screw up a piece of kitchen towel and dab into the paint.


Use heart shape as stencil to print first heart.


Repeat using 4 hearts together to make flower shape.


Use the edges of the stencil as a spacing guide.

 

 

Calendar

You Will Need:

A4 card (cream or white)
Felt tips
Ruler
Book of dates
Glue
Tape
Ribbon or wool

 

Here's How:


Fold card in half, open out.


Fold in half in the opposite direction and open out.


Using ruler and black felt-tip draw along fold lines to divide card into 4.


Stick book of dates on the cross over point.


In each of the squares draw a basic skeleton of a tree in brown.


Top left add pink flowers and pale green leaves - spring.


Top right add dark green leaves - summer.


Bottom right add orange and red leaves - autumn.


Bottom left add extra brown branches – winter.


Using tape and small piece of wool or ribbon make a hanging loop on the back.

 

 

Jigsaw

You Will Need:

Card (old cereal box)
Magazine picture(square or rectangle)
Glue
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil

Here's How:


Cut out picture and stick to card – make sure edges and diagonal well glued.


Cut round picture.


Draw diagonals across back of card and cut along lines.

 

 

Storage case

You Will Need:

Crisp or biscuit tube
Coloured paper
Scissors
Glue
Pencil
Ruler
Items to put in box

Here's How:


Measure size of tube onto large piece of paper and cut to size with an overlap for glueing.


Cut strips from other papers about 1.5 cms in width.


Stick as stripes on base paper – make sure you glue right to edges.


Cut off where strips are too long.


Stick around tube.

 

 

Picture Frame

You Will Need:

Cardboard
Picture or photo
Pencil
Paint – orange plus others
Paint brushes
Water
Tin lid palettes
Scissors
Tape
Ribbon

Here's How:


Put spare paper under card as brush strokes will go over edge.


Place picture in centre of card and draw round – remove.


With orange paint, paint a border over these lines.
With other colours paint radiating lines from border.


(Remember to clean and slightly dry your brush in between colours).


Cut short piece of ribbon and tape to back of card.

 

 

Greeting card

You Will Need:

A4 white paper
Paints – yellow, orange and green
Kitchen towel
Fingers!

Here's How:


Fold paper in half and then half again.

With orange paint finger paint the centre.

With yellow paint finger paint petals – working from centre outwards.

With green, paint stalk and leaves.

Leave to dry and write your greeting inside.

 

 

Crown

You Will Need:

One sheet of a tabloid newspaper
Foil
Shiny card form food boxes
Glue stick
Paperclips

Here's How:


Fold newspaper in half lengthways.


Fold again twice more.


Wrap foil around newspaper, pressing well on the creases.


Cut diamond and triangle shapes out of the card and stick as jewels on the crown.


Fasten ends together to fit with paperclips.

 

 

Face Mask

You Will Need:

½ A4 white paper
Beaker
Pencil
Scissor
Yellow and orange paint
Palette
Brush
Black felt tip
String
Glue
Tape
Spare paper for painting on

Here's How:


Fold paper in half.


Draw round beaker top right corner away from fold.


Draw line from top of circle to fold.


Draw line from base of circle up to fold.


Draw triangle for ears.


Cut out.


Fold in a second fold on folded side to cut out eye holes.


Stick on ears at an angle.


Paint on yellow and orange markings – may need two coats.


When dry use felt tip to put in black markings
Also outline eyes and ears.


Tape string to side of mask level with eye holes.

 

 

Plate Garden

You Will Need:


Paper plate
Lid from cheese box
Sticky-tac
PVA glue
Leaves and flowers
Fir cones
Green and blue paint

Here's How:


Paint plate green and inside of lid blue.


When paint dry stick lid to plate with PVA.


With sticky-tac fix cones as trees around the pond.


Add leaves and flowers to be the garden.


If you have some ducks or other animals you can put them in your garden.

 

 

Fan

You Will Need:


A4 white paper
Various coloured paints
Tape
Scissors

Here's How:


Fold paper in on shorter side by about 1 and half centimetres.


Turn paper over and fold again – repeat to the end.


Cut off a small triangle form one end of the fan – this will be the top.


Open out and paint each section a different colour – the base can be left white.


When dry fold up again.


Fold over a small section at base and secure with tape.


Open out once again.

 

 

Boat

You Will Need:


Small plastic margerine container
Coloured straw
Sticky-tac
2 different coloured sheets of paper
Stick glue
Scissors
Sticky dots

Here's How:


Put sticky dots along sides of container as portholes.


Cut bendy bit off straw.


Cut triangle form one of the sheets of paper for the sail.


Fold in half and cut 2 small holes on fold.


Thread straw through these holes.


Cut a small rectangle form the other sheet of paper and fold in half widthways.


Cut a triangle to form the flag.


Stick flag around top of straw mast.


With plenty of stcky-tac fix mast into base.

 

 

Hoopla

You Will Need:

Paper plate
Scissors
Coloured wrapping paper
Tape
Pencil
Rubber

 

Here's How:


Place rubber under centre of plate and with pencil make a hole.


Starting at this hole cut out centre of plate to form disc.


Cut paper into strips about 2 cms wide.


Using tape stick one end of a strip to the plate disc and wrap round and round and tape the end.

Repeat with other strips until disc is covered.


This will give it weight for throwing.


Wool, string and fabric can also be used.

You Will Need:


A4 white paper
Paints – yellow, orange and green
Kitchen towel

Here's How:


Fold paper in half and then half again.


With orange paint finger paint the centre.

Puppet

You Will Need:


Sock
Kitchen towel
Bag twists
Sticky dots – small black and larger red

Here's How:


Screw up two small bits of tissue.


Put them one at a time into the opposite sides of the heel of the sock and secure with twister.


Put black spot on each.


Put sock on hand, keeping eyes on the knuckles and tuck spare toe bit in between the fingers and thumb.


Stick red dots for nose.


 

Wand

You Will Need:


A4 piece of black paper
Foil
Tape
Scissors

Here's How:


Roll paper in on itself along long edge to form tight tube.


Stick with tape.


Fold foil and tear to size as works better than cutting.


Fold foil in half lengthwise and stick a piece round each end of wand.


Hey Presto!

 

 

Necklace

You Will Need:

Pasta
Wool or string or ribbon
Tape
Scissors
Paint – 3 colours
Paint brushes
Tin lids
Water
Kitchen towel
Tape

Here's How:

Paint 5 pieces of pasta in each of the different colours. (You may have to paint one side and allow it to dry before painting the rest.)


Wind a piece of tape around end of wool to make it easier to thread.


Thread one piece of pasta and tie off to stop them unthreading.


Then thread the others, alternating colours – tie off last one.

 

 

Party Place Names

You Will Need:


White card (1/4 A4) or A4 paper
Paint 3 colours – red, blue and yellow
Palette
Water
Brush
Coloured pencil
Thin card
Scissors
Spare paper

Here's How:


Fold card in half or paper 3 times in half.


Cut star out of thin card slightly smaller than the folded card.


Have the paint ready out on palette.


Hold star in centre of card.


Paint out form the star with each of the 3 colours.


Remember to wash brush between each colour.


When dry write on name.

 

 

Hat

You Will Need:

Sheet of newspaper
Magazine
Scissors
Tape

Here's How:


Using sheet double, fold in half.


Find centre of folded edge.


Fold in 2 corners on folded edge then stick down.


Double fold up on open edge.


From a coloured page in a magazine cut out feather shapes and stick in brim of hat.

 

 

Bookmark

You Will Need:

Cream or white card
Paint –Orange, green and purple
Scissors
Cardboard tube, cotton reels etc
Pencil
Tin lids for paint
Kitchen towel
Hole punch
Scissors
Wool

Here's How:


Cut a piece of card slightly wider than the end of the tube and as long as a book.


Using tube and purple paint print overlapping rings down length of card and repeat with reel and yellow paint.


With pencil end print green dots.


Punch hole at base of bookmark.


Cut a piece of wool, double over and thread thru.
